As a father of 4 already, I was initially hesitant about hiring a doula for our childbirth experience. The idea of having someone else in the room during such an intimate moment felt unnecessary, and I wondered if it would complicate things. However, after working with our Catharine, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions we made.
From our first meeting, Catharine was warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to listen to our concerns and patiently explained how she could support both of us.  Her calm presence put me at ease, and I appreciated how she advocated for our wishes while offering guidance that never felt intrusive.
During labor, her support was invaluable. She knew exactly when to step in to comfort my wife and offer encouragement, or a quiet moment of reassurance. My wife delivered via C-Section, and while my son needed extra care from the doctors apart from my wife,  I was able to go with my newborn son while being comforted by the thought that my wife had an advocate in Catharine while I had to step away.   I was amazed at how she helped and reassured my wife what was going on so that I could  feel involved and confident in my role. She helped my wife understand what was happening and supported her through prayer or simply advocating for her and baby when needed. This made the experience feel like a true team effort.
Looking back, I can’t imagine going through this childbirth without her. She brought a sense of calm and confidence to the room through her prayers and presence which allowed us to focus on welcoming our baby. To any fathers who are skeptical like I was, I highly recommend giving Catharine a chance—you’ll be grateful for the support and the difference it makes.
